Ryan’s Wake

Hello all and welcome to Members Only! for the Next Few months or so on, I will be visiting local bars in the Troy and Albany areas. I’m here to tell you about my personal experience and let you, the people know, what bars are worth going to. With that being said I’d like to start out with my friend Ryan’s favorite bar, Ryan’s wake. This bar is located Just off the Troy-Green Island Bridge and can be noticed right away by its old school saloon Irish bar. Upon entering it is very inviting, Large glass windows letting you see the beautifully finished wood inside the bar.
When my friends and I came that thursday, surprisingly the bar was filled with a decent amount of people. However, Not enough to the point it was uncomfortable, the age range of the crowd was around 21-35 with most of the bar dressing business casual (Collared shirts, Sweaters, Ect.), but no one really over dressed. As you can see from the picture below taken at the front of the bar, their beverage selection is not very limited to say the least. They even have around 14 Beers On tap! as you can see in the featured Image the bar is fairly large. If you follow down that hallway you’ll find another room heavily decorated with a irish theme, featuring a dart board, Juke Box, and a Pool Table.
To a certain extent I would consider this a classy bar great for a casual night out with your friends or loved ones. Planning for the night is Key here at Members Only, the best times for those who would like a casual drink with a small crowd, you should come between 8pm-10pm any day of the week.
For those who like loud music, a lot of people, cheap beer and a club style bar, this bar may not be the one for you. However, they do get crowded on weekends and Thursday nights, they also have $3 Utica Clubs on Tap. Utica clubs wound up being my friend Ryan’s favorite beer, I can’t say I blame him. To wrap it all up in a nutshell; this is a great place for a casual drink with your friends, If you’re looking for a college style bar you may want to look elsewhere. But don’t go running away Just yet in my next few Posts I will be featuring popular local college bars in albany, like Western tavern, and Pearl Street Pub.
