Email Marketing

Hello all and welcome to another exciting post here at Members Only. Today we will be discussing email marketing, specifically the subscriptions that I am signed up to, as well as analysing and rating them.  Below is an email from Glassdoor, Glassdoor is a website that gives free information on different types of companies and the jobs those companies offer.

In the Email above you can see the Subject Line reads “How is your United Group search going?” The Subject Line reflects the content of the email, but does not necessarily give me any further information on the company. The content in the email reads “We wanted to see how your job search is going for United Group in Albany, NY. We hope you’re finding your job alert emails helpful. If you aren’t seeing jobs that interest you, try updating your alert to one of these job titles”. Also, there are several clickable icons or “call-to-action” buttons, in the email that read “United Group” in blue and “update job alert” in green. Upon clicking on either of these links, Glassdoor wishes for me to assign specific jobs to my list of interest for further updates. To be frank I am very reluctant to actually give them anymore reasons to email me, as they now email me 5 times a day. This is also why I have stopped opening them, on average I will open maybe one of these per week if i’m bored. However they do keep this in mind, as they provide an additional Icon to cut down these emails to a week. The reason I signed up for this subscription was because I found myself going to this website frequently. Although, the website somewhat made me sign up for this subscription by preventing me from seeing my search results without providing my information. In addition, they also provide several different job openings upon scrolling down the email, that are separate from united group. This email was segmented to me specifically because this was a company that I searched on their website more than once. I don’t believe this email has accomplished its objective because I am not going to give them any further info and I am very close to reporting them as spam. If they wish to send another email I would suggest giving me actual links that lead to more information of the particular job I have searched.

Next we will take a look at an email sent to me from Livestrong.

I don’t remember when I signed up for this subscription and is partially the reason it has been labeled as spam. On average I received an email from them twice a day and this is honestly, this first time I have looked at one of their emails. The Subject Line reads “The Simplest  Exercise That Has 31 Proven Health Benefits | 8 Peanut Butter Breakfast Recipes That Will Change Your Morning”. Upon reading the actual Email it did provide “Peanut Butter Breakfast Recipes That Will Change Your Morning” and “The Simplest  Exercise That Has 31 Proven Health Benefits”(CTA). So in this aspect they did provide what they claimed to provide, however the email is very sloppy looking and almost looks like it is from a fraudulent source.  I believe the email was supposed to have picture in it but something must have gone wrong when they sent this email out. Click Here to see the page Live strong Brought me to (CTA). As you can see for yourself, despite the way the email looks it actually brings you to a reputable site with a beautiful layout. Also, this email was most likely just a mass email sent out to all its subscribers, as there is nothing personal about me in the email. The email did not obtain its objective because I have never opened one of these emails, nor have I opened any link associated with it (except for this post of course). They should stop emailing me all together at this point, as I have never responded and they are now labeled as spam in my inbox.
